Youth/Family Aquatics

Members and participants are required to wear face masks/coverings when not swimming.

• Capacity limits will be enforced with a first come-first serve priority. When someone leave the pool area, another may enter to remain at capacity.

Parent/Child Swim Lessons

This program introduces children to an aquatic environment with the support of their parent. The objective of this class is to help you and your child from a positive and confident feeling about swimming.

Ages: 6 months to 35 months.
Fees: Members $35; Non-members $50

The scheduled session will consist of six (6) thirty-minute lessons on Monday, Tuesday & Thursday for two weeks. Registrations begins May 3.

Session 1: June 7 - June 17

Session 2: June 28 - July 8

Session 3: July 19 - July 29
Swim Starters: 11:45 a.m. -12:15 p.m.
Swim Starters: 5:15 p.m. - 5:45 p.m.

Progressive Swim Lessons

All Progressive Swim Lessons students will meet the first night as a group to be evaluated and placed in the proper class for their skill level. The evaluation includes swimming a lap in the following techniques: front crawl, backstroke, breaststroke, and sidestroke. Class times will be finalized after the evaluation is complete.

Fees: Members $35; Non-members $50

Level 1: 11:10 a.m. - 11:40 a.m.; or 5:50 p.m. - 6:20 p.m.

SWIM CATEGORIES

LEVEL 1 BEGINNER: A beginning class for children who do not know how to swim and have never had a structured beginning level class. Children will become comfortable in the water and learn personal water safety.

LEVEL 2 INTERMEDIATE: Coordinated stroke introduction, development and mechanics. Students work on front and back crawl strokes, elementary backstroke, treading water and kneeling & standing dives.

LEVEL 3 ADVANCED: This is an intermediate/advanced class. Students will work on front crawl, backstroke and develop beginning breaststroke butterfly, breath control and rotary breathing. Will continue to develop water safety skills. Child must be able to swim one length of the pool and be comfortable in deep water to enter this class.

Sharks In Training

Refining stroke and kick mechanics to improve speed and performance. Must be able to swim one length of the pool freestyle/front crawl and one length backstroke to attend this class.

Pool admission is free for members; $5 adults, $4 ages 18 and under per person for non-members; $16 per family (up to five) and $4 for any additional family members. Free for ages 2 and younger.

The Paris-Bourbon County YMCA is committed to providing a safe and enjoyable pool experience for all. All children 12 years of age and under must participate in a swimming skills assessment and will be assigned one of three colored bands allowing different depth access in the pools. The assessments are free, will be given by one of the YMCA’s certified lifeguards and children may retest as their swim skills improve.

All flotation devices must be U.S. Coast Guard approved.
