Youth/Family Aquatics

Parent & Child Swim Lessons

This program introduces children to an aquatic environment with the support of their parent. The objective of this class is to help you and your child from a positive and confident feeling about swimming.

Ages: 6 months to 36 months.
Fees: Members $45; Non-members $55

The scheduled session will consist of six (6) thirty-minute lessons on Saturdays at 9:30 am.

Progressive Swim Lessons

This program takes the child through progressive levels of skills. As each level is mastered, the child will be passed to the next level of skills – from basic floating, kicking and breathing to freestyle and backstroke.
Ages: 3 years to 12 years old
Fees: Member: $45; non-member: $55
The schedule will consist of six 30-minute lessons Tuesday, Thursday & Saturdays.

Session 1: Tuesdays February 14th-March 21st 
5:00-5:30 p.m.: 3-7 year old-beginner level 1
5:35-6:05 p.m.: 5-12 year olds-intermediate level 2

Session 2: Thursdays February 16th-March 23rd 
5:00-5:30 p.m.: 3-7 year olds-beginner level 1
5:35-6:05 p.m.: 5-12 year olds-intermediate level 2

Session 3: Saturday February 18th- March 25th 
10:40-11:10 a.m.: 3-7 year olds- beginner level 1
11:10-11:40 a.m.: level 2 and 3 Intermediate/advanced

SWIM CATEGORIES
LEVEL 1 BEGINNER: A beginning class for children who do not know how to swim and have never had a structured beginning level class. Children will become comfortable in the water and learn personal water safety.
LEVEL 2 INTERMEDIATE: Coordinated stroke introduction, development and mechanics. Students work on front and back crawl strokes, elementary backstroke, treading water and kneeling & standing dives.
LEVEL 3 ADVANCED: This is an intermediate/advanced class. Students will work on front crawl, backstroke and develop beginning breaststroke butterfly, breath control and rotary breathing. Will continue to develop water safety skills. Child must be able to swim one length of the pool and be comfortable in deep water to enter this class.
 
PRIVATE SWIM LESSONS
One-on-one swim lessons for all ages and skill levels, from beginners to stroke and kick refinement. Days and times to be set with instructor. Each lesson is 30 minutes.
Fees: One session – Member: $20; non-member: $35
Fees: Four sessions – Member: $75; non-member: $130
 
SPRING BREAK SWIM CLINIC
Mon.-Thurs., April 3-April 6; 9 a.m. - Noon

This clinic will provide swimmers the chance to work on their freestyle technique, backstroke technique, breaststroke technique, butterfly technique, under waters, starts off the blocks, flip turns and more. These are great programs for kids new to swim team, kids trying out for a swim team, and experienced competitive swimmers looking to refine their swimming technique and additional skills that help win the race!
This program is a great refresher or jump start for swimmers all levels welcome.
$106 Members; $132.50 Non-Members, with sales tax.


LAP SWIMMING:
Lap swimming is offered from pool opening to closing, other than during special aquatic activities.

RECREATIONAL SWIMMING:
Recreational swimming is offered during most pool hours. During certain special events, such as swim meets, recreational swimming will not be offered. The monthly aquatic calendar is posted outside the pool doors.

SUMMER  SWIM TEAM:
The YMCA Sharks swim team is a competitive age group swim program that competes against other YMCA and USA swim teams. The focus is on personal growth and development while also learning to participate in a team environment. Recommended for ages 4 to 18 (minimum swim requirements apply). For more information, contact the Y at (859) 987-1395. Swim team fees range from $132.50 to $159 with sales tax, depending on ability level. Season Runs May-July.
 
EASTER EGG DIVE
Dive in! Search for eggs in our indoor pool and exchange them for candy and prizes!

The YMCA Pool will be providing a fun and creative way to go hunting for eggs for ages 1-13 with an in the water egg hunt! Non-swimmers will be provided lifejackets on the surface egg hunting.  Parents are welcome to join in!
Stay afterwards for snacks and crafts!
